Staying Safe on X
Setting privacy and safety controls
X, formerly Twitter, lets you share short posts, follow conversations and stay updated on news, trends and topics that interest you. What you post, see and interact with can shape your online experience. Learning how X works and adjusting your settings can help you stay safe online.
How can content on X affect you?
What you see on X is personalised. It learns from the accounts you follow and what you like, repost and interact with. This means your activity influences what appears in your timeline.
While X tries to filter out content that breaks its community rules, you may still come across posts that:
Involve cyberbullying, harassment or doxxing
Promote hate speech, racial or religious content
Spread misleading or false information
Come from impersonation accounts pretending to be someone you know
If content on X starts to make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, that is a sign to adjust your settings to protect yourself.
